Almodington Farmhouse Kitchen

A kitchen design project located in a very pretty hamlet by the West Sussex coast, designed for the most idyllic of farmhouses wrapped in wisteria in the summer time, with chickens pottering in the garden – heaven!

Our handcrafted shaker cabinets, hand finished in ‘Greylag Goose’ by Fenwick & Tilbrook, bring a simple, timeless style to the room which is already abundant with its own charm. The kitchen was relocated to a different space in the house, giving us a completely blank canvas to design for. Our wonderful clients had sourced an antique table from a local market to become the kitchen island which compliments the cabinetry beautifully with its aged patina and vintage charm.

Low level cabinetry is fitted on the outer walls, with views onto the garden, including a window seat – perfectly placed for perching at to read through a recipe or for tiny helpful hands to reach up to the countertop and help with the cooking! The fridge and freezer are integrated behind shaker doors, complete with a delicate cut out detail on the door panels which is a detail we adore bringing into a design. Choosing to keep appliances integrated throughout the design felt right for this space, creating a seamless run of beautiful handmade cabinetry throughout the room.

An area of the room was set aside to create a walk-in pantry with plenty of shelving and open storage space for tins and jars and kitchen appliances. A cafe style curtain, beautifully made by Holly’s mum, wraps around the lower cabinetry and brings a wonderful touch of laid back, effortless style to the space. This part of the kitchen is very practical and hard working but also feels equally as stylish and considered too.

Our bespoke cabinetry feels just right for the space here, nestled below of the beams of this family home – a room filled with carefully chosen pieces and vintage treasures. It takes time and thought to create an interior like this so it’s a joy to see our cabinets a part of this wonderful project. We hope many happy family meals will be shared at the kitchen table here!
